Job summary

AMA Driver Education in Lethbridge is seeking contracted Class 5 Driving Instructors. You will train and assess student drivers, follow Alberta Transportation guidelines, and deliver high-quality in-vehicle instruction.

This role offers entrepreneurial freedom, a strong support network, and flexible after-school hours to fit student schedules. New instructors can access paid training, marketing backing, and a generous starting hourly rate with bonuses plus a fuel subsidy.

Qualifications

• Provincial Driving Instructor Licence (Class 5) required or provided training.
• Class 1–5 licence held for at least 3 years.
• Ability to obtain Class 4 licence.
• Clean driving record (abstract).
• Own vehicle required.
• Must cover start-up costs after training (vehicle add-ons, SEF 6D, insurance).
• Incorporation and WCB number expected upon hire/training completion.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality vehicle instruction to students, following AMA guidelines.
• Adhere to Alberta Transportation rules for Driving Instructors.
• Give constructive feedback to help students become licensed and safe.

What You'll Do As An Instructor

• Reporting to the Field Manager, you will provide quality vehicle instruction to students, following AMA's instruction requirements and customer service standards.
• Follow Alberta Transportation guidelines and policies for Driving Instructors.
• Provide constructive feedback on student drivers' abilities, helping them develop the confidence and skills necessary to become licensed, safe drivers for life.
• Be available after school, evenings, and weekends, to meet students' scheduling needs.

Summary Of Requirements

• You have your Provincial Driving Instructor Licence (Class 5) from Alberta Transportation. (Don't worry, training will be provided to suitable candidates who don't have this certification.)
• You've had a Class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 licence for a minimum of 3 years.
• Ability to obtain a Class 4 licence.
• You have a clean driver's abstract.
• You have your own vehicle.
• You can cover required start-up costs after completing training and acquiring your instructor license (vehicle add-ons, SEF 6D Endorsement insurance, and incorporating).
• Please note - being incorporated will be required upon hire and obtaining a WCB number will be required upon completion of training.
