Job summary

Silent-Aire Limited Partnership, a Johnson Controls subsidiary, is seeking a Truck Driver to support manufacturing needs in the Edmonton region, including Nisku and Sherwood Park. The role features a Rotating Day Shift and entails delivering products to customers while ensuring loads are secure and paperwork is accurate.

You will operate light trucks, load/unload cargo, document deliveries, and maintain vehicle logs in accordance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record.
• Experience driving a 1-ton vehicle with a 30'–40' trailer and a 5-ton van.
• Minimum of 1 year of commercial truck driving experience.
• Forklift operation is an asset and TDG certification eligibility is preferred.
• Defensive driving skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate and drive automobiles, vans, and light trucks to pick up and deliver products.
• Load and secure freight for safe transport.
• Ensure loads are properly secured and unload as required.
• Record pickup/delivery details, mileage, fuel costs, and issues.
• Communicate with central dispatch and complete paperwork.
• Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle status per policies.
• Inspect vehicles before, during, and after delivery.
• Ensure product protection from weather during transport.
• Deliver to customers with courteous, timely service.
• Adhere to safety program standards and applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

In the Edmonton region we have manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Nisku. We offer the following shifts:

• Rotating Day Shift (continental)

The Truck Driver will be responsible for the delivery of products to various locations, typically within the City of Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Nisku area. Responsibilities will include the correct loading and securing loads, recording of delivery information, and ensuring overall vehicle safety. The position will be expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and following all appropriate company policies and procedures.

• Operate and drive automobiles, vans, and light trucks to pick up and deliver various products to support manufacturing needs.
• Ensure and assist in correct loading, securing, and unloading of freight on vehicle or trailer.
• Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding the delivery of goods.
• Record information on pick-ups and deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel costs, and any problems encountered.
• Communicate with central dispatch.
• Loading and unloading products in a safe manner, using provided tools as appropriate (e.g. dollies, lifts, etc.).
• Report customer, mechanical, or delivery problems, vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, inspection, delivery receipts, and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
• Communicate effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
• Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery of load and vehicle to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.
• Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.
• Deliver to product and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner.
• Ensure the preventive maintenance (oil changes, etc.) and cleaning of vehicle and trailer are performed at regular intervals.
• Assist in departmental activities when driving is not required.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and Clean Driver’s Abstract.
• Ability to drive a 1-ton vehicle with a 30’ to 40’ trailer and 5-ton box van and safely navigate in and out of loading docks.
• One year or equivalent commercial truck driving experience.
• Ability to drive a forklift is an asset.
• Eligibility for bonding and transportation of dangerous goods (TGD) certification.
• Defensive Driving Course is an asset.
• Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
