Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking delivery drivers to operate a diverse fleet of construction equipment and ensure accurate handoffs at customer sites, with safety as a top priority.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 3 or DZ driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory abstract.
• Experience operating, loading, securing, and transporting heavy-duty construction equipment on flat-bed trucks.
• Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather/road conditions.
• Experience driving with a manual transmission.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; takes pride in vehicle and responsibilities.
• Able to communicate professionally with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Load and unload equipment and secure loads per safety procedures.
• Complete daily pre- and post-inspections, logs and timesheets.
• Check fuel, oil and other fluid levels; report issues to dispatcher.
• Obtain customer signatures and maintain delivery records.
• Inform supervisor of delivery challenges and new sales opportunities.
• Ensure customers receive exact items ordered and notify dispatch if behind schedule.
• Keep trucks clean and professional at all times.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver a diverse fleet of construction equipment to and from customer jobsites.
• Equipment fleet includes (but is not limited to) aerial, earth moving and compaction equipment.
• Load and unload equipment; secure loaded equipment per company safe work procedures and inspect in transit if necessary.
• Complete thorough and accurate daily pre-inspections and post-inspections, regulatory logs and timesheets.
• Check gas, oil and other fluid levels.
• Secure customer signature on contract, if not already signed.
• Inform supervisor of difficulties with deliveries or pickups.
• Inform management of new sales opportunities and job sites.
• Double check delivered items to make sure customers receive exactly what they ordered.
• Communicate with dispatch if behind schedule, so customers may be notified.
• Maintain accurate delivery and pickup records.
• If equipment is missing or broken upon pick up fill out the appropriate forms and get customer’s signature.
• Turn in these forms to Branch Manager, along with pick up sheets.
• Tag and move broken equipment to repair area.
• Provide basic instruction to customers on the safe operation of equipment if necessary.
• Keep the truck in clean and professional condition at all times.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Valid Class 3/ DZ driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Experience with operation, load securement and transportation of heavy-duty construction equipment on flat-bed trucks is required.
• Comfortable with working outdoors year-round and driving in varying weather / road conditions.
• Comfortable with manual transmission.
• Comfortable with city driving.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Highly safety-focused and professional; take pride in your vehicle and your responsibility as a driver.
• Available and willing to work overtime when required and on an on-call rotation if required.
• Flexibility; must be comfortable with managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and organization skills.
• Strong team-player with effective communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as with a team.
