Job summary

Action Scaffold-Échafauds Plus is seeking a Drafter–Draftsperson to design and develop scaffolding plans and drawings in collaboration with the engineering team. You will prepare 3D project plans, material lists, and technical solutions for scaffolding structures, supporting sales, project management and engineering through all project phases.

The role requires a diploma or degree in Building Drafting or Civil Engineering, 2–5 years in drafting, and strong AutoCAD/SketchUp skills, plus MS Office

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of drafting experience in construction or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and basic technical documentation.

JOB SUMMARY

In collaboration with the engineering team, the Drafter prepares scaffolding plans, drawings, sketches and technical solutions related to scaffolding structures and components.

The incumbent plays a key role in supporting the sales, project management and engineering teams throughout the various stages of projects. The position involves participating in the design of technical solutions, evaluating material requirements and preparing the technical documentation needed to successfully complete projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Drafter – Draftsperson, the incumbent will:

  • Design and develop 3D project plans for scaffolding structures based on freehand sketches, verbal instructions or various technical data.
  • Prepare detailed drawings containing the information required to execute the work, as well as relevant photographs.
  • Translate project data and requirements into accurate technical drawings, in accordance with applicable standards and project specifications.
  • Prepare material lists required before and throughout projects.
  • Create sketches and drawings of scaffolding components.
  • Participate in project design by assessing the suitability of specific components and recommending alternative parts or solutions when required.
  • Verify dimensions and measurements to ensure the accuracy of drawings.
  • Assist the engineer with project management and follow‑up.
  • Prepare “as-built” drawings when required.
  • Review drawings and obtain the necessary client approvals for the Project Department.
  • Manage project documentation, including preparing copies of drawings for representatives, sending documents to customers and filing documents in the internal document management system.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Diploma or degree in Building Drafting, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry as a Drafter, Estimator, Project Manager or in a similar position involving drafting responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Knowledge of other 2D and 3D drafting software is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • English proficiency, both written and spoken.
  • French proficiency is an asset.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical information and translate it into accurate drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Autonomous, resourceful and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
