Job summary

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary design/drafting education or five years scaffolding craft knowledge.
  • Experience designing scaffolding structures.
  • Knowledge of multiple scaffolding types and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare scaffold drawings using AutoCAD and 3D modelling software.
  • Interpret client requirements and field conditions to develop practical scaffold design solutions.
  • Create scaffold designs using photographs, site surveys and model data.
  • Produce design documentation in accordance with procedures.
  • Consult with clients and site personnel throughout the design process.
  • Provide technical guidance to management and site supervision.
  • Maintain organized drawing libraries for assigned sites.
  • Collaborate with field and corporate teams to resolve design questions.
  • Manage multiple design assignments and meet project deadlines.

Intermediate Scaffold Designer (Fort Saskatchewan, AB)

About the Role Reporting to the Design Manager, the Intermediate Scaffold Designer will plan and produce scaffold designs supporting Brock’s upcoming work at Dow.

You will translate client requirements, field information, photographs, site surveys and 3D model data into practical drawings and supporting documentation. Working closely with site leadership, front-line supervision, clients and corporate teams, you will manage multiple priorities while delivering accurate design work within established schedules, budgets and company standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare scaffold drawings using AutoCAD and 3D modelling software.
  • Interpret client requirements and field conditions to develop practical scaffold design solutions.
  • Create scaffold designs using photographs, site surveys and available model information.
  • Produce all relevant design documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Consult with clients, managers, supervisors and forepersons throughout the design process.
  • Provide technical guidance, advice and support to management and site supervision.
  • Maintain current and organized drawing libraries for assigned sites.
  • Collaborate with field/site management and corporate or functional teams to resolve design questions and keep work moving.
  • Manage multiple design assignments and consistently meet project deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post secondary education within design, drafting or a related field or at least five years of scaffolding craft knowledge.
  • Previous experience designing scaffolding structures is considered an asset.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience drawing multiple types and systems of scaffolding.
  • Knowledge of Scaffolding General Requirements and the Scaffolding Code of Practice 2009 (OH&S Regulations) is considered an asset.
  • Competence using AutoCAD and Navisworks 3D models.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to solve problems, organize, prioritize and deliver within a fast-paced, high-pressure project environment.
  • Professional and concise written and verbal communication skills, supported by strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with clients, site leadership, front-line supervision and cross-functional teams.
