Job summary

Flynn Group of Companies is seeking an Architectural Metals Drafter (Drafter) in Mississauga to design and develop detailed drawings for architectural metal panel systems, using AutoCAD and Rhino. You will create shop drawing elevations for architectural proposals and develop details based on building science and rainscreen principles.

This role requires experience with metal cladding systems, a degree in Architectural Technology, and strong AutoCAD/MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Design and drafting experience with metal cladding systems or architectural panel systems.
• Graduate of an Architectural or Architectural Technology program.
• Bilingual French preferred (spoken and written).
• Strong computer skills in AutoCAD and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop detailed drawings of Flynn metal panel systems for architectural approval, shop fabrication and field installation using AutoCAD, Rhino or similar software.
• Create shop drawing elevations for architectural proposals based on Flynn systems or other suppliers’ products.
• Develop shop drawing details based on building science and rainscreen principles.
• Incorporate engineering instructions and sketches into drawing sets.
• Produce fabrication drawing packages for panels, break shapes and other materials.
• Review data to assess factors affecting design, fabrication or construction procedures.
• Coordinate with peers to design, layout or detail components and resolve design issues.
• Modify and revise designs to correct deficiencies or incorporate feedback.
• Maintain organization within the drawing database.
• Perform other duties as required.

A Day in the Life:

• Design and develop detailed drawings of Flynn metal panel systems for architectural approval, shop fabrication & field installation, using AutoCAD, Rhino or similar software.
• Create shop drawing elevations as required for architectural proposals based on Flynn systems or other supplier’s products in either metric or imperial.
• Develop shop drawing details based on building science and the rainscreen principle.
• Incorporate engineering instructions and sketches into our set of shop drawings.
• Produce packages of fabrication drawings for panels, break shapes and other required materials, as required.
• Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, estimates, and related data to assess factors affecting design, fabrication or construction procedures.
• Coordinate and consult with peers to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design issues.
• Modify and revise designs to correct deficiencies or incorporate instructions and comments into drawing sets.
• Maintain organization within the existing drawing database.
• Other duties as required

What You Bring:

• Previous experience designing/drafting experience with metal cladding systems; new grads also welcome to apply.
• Graduate of an Architectural or Architectural Technology Program.
• Bilingual French (speaking and writing) preferred.
• Experience working in the Total Building Envelope Industry considered an asset.
• Strong computer skills in AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to demonstrate eagerness to learn and overcome challenges.
