Job summary

Canadian Blood Services in Ancaster, Ontario, seeks a Temporary full-time Donor Centre Supervisor to lead the Ancaster Mobiles team within the Collections division. The role focuses on clinic flow, service excellence, and policy compliance, with responsibilities to hire, train, and manage staff and to plan and supervise mobile blood collection events.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Ancaster Mobiles team within the Collections unit.
  • Ensure optimal clinic flow, high service levels, and policy compliance.
  • Interview, hire, and manage performance, including progressive discipline.
  • Plan, organize, and manage mobile clinics for safe, efficient blood collection.
  • Meet donor, volunteer, and public needs and provide timely staff communication.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-timeDonor Centre Supervisor to join our dynamic Collectionsteam, leading and supervising the Ancaster Mobiles team.

TheCollections Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day.

  • Utilizing your excellent customer service skills, you will ensure optimal clinic flow, a high level of service, and compliance with Canadian Blood Services policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety.
  • Leveragingyour superb leadership skills, you will ensurestaff performs duties in an effective, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Utilizing your superior interpersonal and communication skills, you willinterview, hire, and complete all aspects of performance management, including progressive discipline as required.
  • Drawing on your knowledge and experience, you will ensure each mobile clinic is planned, organized, and managed to provide safe, efficient, and cost-effective blood collection.
  • With your ability to work effectively, you will ensure the needs of the donor, volunteer, and the public are met.
  • Utilizing your proven success in leading a collaborative team, you will provide timely communication to staff, prompt follow-up for donor and staff concerns.
  • At mobile events within our communities, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use.
Desired education and skills
  • Successful completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant health sciences discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Proven leadership ability is essential, and a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • You will have sound knowledge and previous experience in blood collection, regulatory, and continuous quality improvement environments.
  • Experience in platelet apheresis and autologous programs would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written in English, are essential. French language skills are an asset.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
  • Possess a leadership skillset to build teams and have a passion for achieving results and a commitment to customer service excellence.

What you can expect
  • Shifts/hours – must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs; length of shifts varies according to the event which takes place at Canadian Blood Services mobile donor centres. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Travel requirements – travel will be required to attend mobile events, and transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
  • Physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
