Job summary

Goldbeck Recruiting seeks an HR Coordinator to provide day-to-day HR support for a unionized manufacturing operation. You will partner with leaders and employees on recruitment, labour relations, workforce planning, employee relations, HR administration, and disability management.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; CPHR designation considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce, including collective agreement interpretation, employee relations, and grievance administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards, labour legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Ability to build relationships, influence leaders, and resolve workplace issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, forestry, industrial, or unionized environment is an asset.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Support HR function for a unionized manufacturing operation by partnering with leaders to deliver HR programs and services.
  • Provide expertise in labour relations, recruitment, workforce planning, employee relations, disability management, and HR administration.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and policies.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to leaders to maintain engaged, productive workforce.
  • Guide leaders on employment legislation, collective agreement interpretation, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, labour legislation, OH&S, collective agreements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training initiatives, including apprenticeship processes.
  • Support workforce planning, staffing, and vacation scheduling to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and participate in grievance administration.

Job description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the HR Coordinator provides day-to-day Human Resources support for a unionized manufacturing operation. Working closely with leaders and employees, this role is responsible for recruitment, labour relations, workforce planning, employee relations, HR administration, and disability management. The HR Coordinator helps ensure compliance with employment legislation and the collective agreement while supporting a respectful, safe, and productive workplace.

We are open to relocating the successful candidate for the position. This is an on-site position in Salmon Arm, BC.

  • Provide guidance to leaders on employment legislation, labour relations, collective agreement interpretation, performance management, attendance management, and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment standards, labour legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, collective agreements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and employee training initiatives, including internal job postings and apprenticeship selection processes.
  • Support workforce planning, staffing requirements, and annual vacation scheduling to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and participate in grievance administration, including fact-finding, documentation, meetings, and follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, employee files, and human resources information systems.
  • Support payroll administration, employee benefits, disability management, and return-to-work programs.
  • Build collaborative relationships with employees, supervisors, union representatives, and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and continuous improvement of HR programs and processes.
