Job summary

Altis is seeking an experienced HR Partner to support diverse operational sites across British Columbia. You will balance strategy with hands‑on HR delivery, focusing on employee and labour relations, investigations, performance management, and talent development.

You will collaborate with leaders from executives to frontline supervisors, traveling regularly to sites and ensuring safe, high‑performing teams.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong foundation in employee and labour relations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience supporting complex unionized environments, including employee relations, investigations, grievance management, and collective bargaining support.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills with the ability to build credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Balance strategic partnership with hands‑on HR delivery in a lean, fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience supporting operational, industrial, manufacturing, or blue‑collar environments preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP SuccessFactors, and HR systems; Google Workspace considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout British Columbia, with occasional travel into the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with operational leaders to deliver strategic and practical HR solutions across multiple sites.
  • Lead employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and coaching on performance and disciplinary processes.
  • Collaborate with Labour Relations on grievance management, collective bargaining preparation, and union‑related matters across multiple agreements.
  • Support talent acquisition, onboarding, succession planning, organizational development, and leadership coaching initiatives.
  • Analyze HR metrics and workforce trends to provide insights for business decisions and organizational effectiveness.
  • Build trusted relationships through regular travel to operational sites, promoting safety, collaboration and engagement.

Job description

Location:

Vancouver, BC (Hybrid. The first 3 months on site for onboarding. Following this, flexibility to work remotely is available when appropriate, though regular travel to operational sites is a key part of the role.)


Travel:

Approximately 40% travel throughout British Columbia, with occasional travel to two sites just across the U.S. border. Travel includes a mix of day trips and week-long site visits


Language:

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills


Background Check Requirement:

Successful completion of a criminal record check and additional checks may be required.

  • You'll collaborate with Labour Relations partners on grievance management, collective bargaining preparation, and union‑related matters across multiple collective agreements.

  • You'll support talent acquisition, onboarding, succession planning, organizational development, and leadership coaching initiatives.

  • You'll analyze HR metrics and workforce trends to provide insights that help shape business decisions and improve organizational effectiveness.

  • You'll build trusted relationships through regular travel to operational sites, promoting a strong culture of safety, collaboration, and employee engagement.


Skills and Qualifications


  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with a strong foundation in employee and labour relations within a business partnering environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline. CPHR designation is considered an asset.

  • Experience supporting complex unionized environments, including employee relations, investigations, grievance management, and collective bargaining support.

  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with stakeholders at all levels, from executive leadership to frontline employees.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic business partnership with hands‑on HR delivery in a lean, fast‑paced environment.

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, relationship‑building, and communication skills with the ability to build credibility from executive leaders to frontline employees.

  • Experience supporting operational, industrial, manufacturing, construction, utilities, forestry, mining, or other blue‑collar environments is highly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP SuccessFactors, and HR systems. Google Workspace experience is considered an asset.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout British Columbia, with occasional travel into the Pacific Northwest.
