The Marketplace Manager will be responsible for the strategy and day-to-day execution of all Marketplace and drop-ship activities for our North American apparel brands. This includes establishing sales targets and managing all merchandising and operational activities to achieve those sales goals. The ideal candidate will work across categories and functions to drive all aspects of the Marketplace channel related to demand generation, digital shelf management, and reporting/analytics. This role collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to enhance and grow our Marketplace business. It requires a blend of digital marketing expertise, data analysis skills, and operational management abilities. Current Marketplaces include Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, PGA Superstore, and Target+, but increasing marketplace channels is a key pillar of the brand’s growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Listing Management and Optimization: Create, manage, and optimize product listings, including compelling copy, high‑quality imagery, and rich content (e.g., A+ content), using marketplace SEO best practices to maximize visibility and conversion.
- Sales and Performance Analysis: Monitor marketplace dashboards for sales, inventory, returns, and key KPIs; proactively identify risks and opportunities; monitor daily sales performance, key metrics (KPIs), and traffic using analytics tools to identify trends and improvement areas.
- Pricing and Promotional Strategy: Plan, track, and optimize seasonal and promotional merchandising calendars in coordination with merchandising, marketing, and sales teams; collaborate with Performance Marketing to align on campaign timing and product prioritization; track competitor pricing and performance to implement effective pricing strategies.
- Compliance and Troubleshooting: Ensure all products and activities comply with marketplace policies, resolve listing errors, and address policy violations; submit, track, and elevate support cases/tickets related to sales, marketing, and catalog issues.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross‑functional teams—including merchandising, marketing, fulfillment, technology, creative, and customer service—to ensure brand consistency, smooth operations, and a seamless customer experience; act as the main liaison with marketplace partners, driving issue resolution, process optimization, and revenue growth.
- Marketplace Expansion: Take ownership of marketplace development, leading heavy‑lift execution while strategically identifying new platform opportunities; conduct market and competitor analysis to identify new opportunities, evaluate trends, and inform strategic decision‑making.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience in e‑commerce and online marketplace management, with a track record of successful optimization efforts; minimum of three years overall (two years in marketplaces).
- Technical Proficiency: Expertise with Marketplace Platforms and Tools (NetSuite, Shopify, Mirakl, Rithum strongly desired) and proficiency in data analysis tools, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze data, interpret reports, and translate findings into actionable insights and strategies.
- Digital Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of digital marketing concepts, including SEO, PPC, and promotional campaigns.
- Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail across multiple platforms/workflows; problem‑solving abilities; strong communication skills; capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment; proactive, resourceful, and collaborative team player who thrives in an entrepreneurial setting.
