Job summary

SKF Canada OEM sales opening in Ontario focuses on enhancing sales for SKF products with 150+ OEM customers across the region. You will validate overall sales potential for SKF offerings and leverage key elements to drive growth.

Enhance and maintain sales for SKF Canada OEM. In the territory of Ontario, Canada, this role will work with the 150+ OEM customers to validate their overall sales potential as well as identifying key elements for each to specify and leverage SKF products in their organizations and equipment. The daily work will involve communicating with customers through virtual methods as well as regular site visits and follow-up.

Partner with OEM customers to maintain and develop sales for the organization. The purpose is to drive sales through a combination of visits and communications with customers to create and support new sales opportunities for SKF. This role is responsible for building long-term partnerships with customers and therein increasing sales and profitability for SKF. This strategic role contributes to the organization by maintaining and growing cash flow and profitability as well as championing the brand and setting the foundation for long-term financial stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and sell SKF products and services included in the product platforms to existing customers, as well as actively hunting for new customers
  • Plan, coordinate and organize sales activities within the province of Ontario
  • “Hunt” and develop new business relationships in order to acquire new accounts
  • Enter, maintain and manage all business process requirements within C4C to meet corporate strategies and KPI's
  • Liaise with the Marketing Department and new business development groups to promote new product lines in order to increase sales volumes and profitability
  • Provide product support to customers on service issues by working closely with Client Sales Department
  • Prepare reports for management including weekly customer visits and opportunities.
  • Attend team meetings as well as meetings and trainings within SKF to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Participating in trade shows to promote SKF products and services
  • Facilitate training to OEM customers on SKF products and services
Leadership & Team Development
  • Team leadership responsibilities include working with internal colleagues as well as stakeholders within SKF to build trust and a smooth exchange of information and documents to best serve the overall corporation as well as external / direct customers.
  • Coaching and development expectations are to be a mentor and “buddy” for less seasoned team members. Sharing knowledge and experience is a key contribution requirement for this role.
  • Customer interaction scope is on a direct, daily and frequent basis. This role must completely and consistently engage and support customers to achieve maximum sales volumes.
  • Escalation responsibilities are at the salesperson’s discretion based on customer valuation, size and importance of the project, urgency of the requirement etc. Escalation protocols are set within the OEM sales team and are expected to be part of this role’s regular scope of responsibilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Key internal partners are sales team colleagues within OEM and aftermarket as well as client sales and SKF colleagues in cross functional roles. Additionally, SKF factory and inventory team members will need to be collaborated with on a regular basis.
  • Collaboration expectations are to have this role bring positive communication and shared outcomes through all parties.
Operational Excellence
  • Performance metrics include but are not limited to; Sales volumes, PS (costing) levels, number of customer visits and number of new sales opportunities created.
  • Process improvement responsibilities will include quarterly recommendations and tabled ideas for improvement in flow of processes from internal as well as customer documentation and online portals etc.
Strategic Communication
  • Communication expectations – Very high level of positive verbal and written communications through virtual or in-person experiences. This role is the “face” of SKF and can be considered the “quarterback” of the sales team for the customers in a given territory. Purposeful Action Taker: Eager to learn, takes initiative in addressing customer needs and looking for solutions
  • Reporting requirements include weekly submissions for newly created sales opportunities as well as posting of visits and regular communications with customers in the C4C platform.
Qualifications

Education:

Post secondary education in a technical field with Sales or related equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Strong business knowledge of the bearing industry
  • Ability to work with a computerized CRM system, preferably Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English language. Additional languages spoken / written are a welcome asset.
  • Must live in the territory – Greater Toronto Area
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Knowledge of customer base would be an asset

Technical Skills:

  • Overall technical / mechanical aptitude is an asset.
  • Knowledge and interpretation of “blueprint” and technical drawings is an asset

Other Requirements:

Travel Requirements

75% daily traveling within the territory to meet with customers at their facilities.

Overnight travel 20% per month

Occasional international business travel to US and / or Mexico
