Job summary

Mountain Equipment Co-op in Surrey, BC, is seeking a full-time Western Distribution Centre (WDC) Supervisor for the on-site afternoon shift. You will lead the WDC team, ensuring service to MEC partners and promoting safety and efficiency in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a warehouse or distribution centre.
• Strong leadership abilities and ability to inspire team members to grow.
• Shift flexibility including evenings and weekends.
• Mechanical orientation and practical problem solving.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stay calm under pressure.
• Savviness with WMS, Microsoft 365, Excel, Teams, Word and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail.
• Enjoy outdoor activity and bring a proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Cross train in all DC functions to support the team.

Salary Range: $56,000.00 To $69,000.00 Annually

About the role:

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Monday-Friday afternoon shift Western Distribution Centre (WDC) Supervisor. As the Western Distribution Centre (WDC) Supervisor, you will provide outstanding service to MEC internal and external partners by leading by example and providing a positive contribution to the DC.

You’ll work with an inclusive, hands-on, collaborative group that connects people with quality products to encourage active outdoor lives. You’ll always be learning, and there’s a good chance your co-workers will inspire you to try something new, like riding in a Fondo, bouldering or paddle boarding.

Please note that this position is 100% on-site.

What you do:

• Cross train in all DC functions to support the team
• Create DC staff workload based on expected SLAs and arrange staffing levels based on volume fluctuations
• Communicate effectively with both internal and external partners
• Promote a safe, secure place to work, ensuring heath and safety policies are being followed
• Promote open communication, teamwork and employee engagement
• Ensure best practices for efficiency and quality are being followed by staff
• Lead and collaborate on continuous improvement projects
• Attend and lead daily start up crew meetings
• Opening and closing of the DC; ensure the building is secure at all times
• Additional administrative functions that may be required

• Minimum 1 year of experience working in a warehouse or distribution centre
• Strong leadership abilities – You’re generous with your knowledge and inspire your team members to grow
• Shift flexibility – must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
• You are mechanically oriented
• You can handle numerous projects at the same time, while keeping cool
• Savviness with WMS systems, Microsoft 365, Excel, Teams, Word and Outlook
• Great communication skills – you listen first and then share knowledge. This goes for both speaking and writing
• You always dot your i’s and cross your t’s
• You’re stoked on something – you love to build trails, log miles or get outside

The anticipated base salary range of this role is $56,000 to $69,000. The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, store location, and internal equity.

Working hours are Monday-Friday afternoon shift (Mon - Thu 1430-2300, Fri 1300-2130)
