We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Distribution Center Manager. This role is based in our Toronto DC and reports to the Director, Supply Chain.
Job Purpose:
The Distribution Center Manager (DCM) is responsible for managing and developing all distribution center operations, including KPIs, goals, and objectives. The DCM will lead and manage a professional distribution team to meet operational demands, oversee the performance of the DCs, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and C-TPAT policies. Collaboration with other departments is essential to meet customer needs. The DCM will also own an operating budget, which varies depending on the size of the DCs managed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage overall Distribution Center Operations, ensuring safety, service, quality, and C-TPAT standards are met.
- Execute workbench software to ensure on-time customer delivery for outbound shipments and stock transfers within an SAP-EWM environment.
- Utilize SAP tools such as Handling Unit management, Wave, and RF capabilities to optimize productivity.
- Develop, promote, train, and manage health & safety and HR initiatives for all DC operations and staff.
- Manage and develop DC team members to ensure team cohesion and effective customer service.
- Ensure proper training for all team members, adhering to internal standards and legal regulations, including conducting monthly safety and employee meetings.
- Implement actions to meet department KPIs, goals, and objectives, and generate related reports.
- Apply Continuous Improvement principles, including Lean, Problem Solving, 5S, and Gemba Walks, to enhance operations and customer service.
- Handle customer complaints and corrective actions in partnership with Customer Service and Sales.
- Manage inventory accuracy through RF technology and cycle counts, including planning and participating in annual physical inventories.
- Assist in developing and monitoring the annual operating budget.
- Coordinate repairs and purchases for the DC in collaboration with Purchasing and Maintenance Managers.
Requirements:
- Community College or University degree in Operations, Logistics Management, Customer Service & Sales, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with SAP EWM is mandatory.
- Certifications such as WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, First Aid are assets.
- Leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to train and develop junior staff.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working in an RF environment.
- Experience in managing a unionized environment is an asset.
