Job description

We are currently seeking a Distribution Center Manager. This position is based at our Toronto DC and reports to the Director of Supply Chain.

Job Purpose:

The Distribution Center Manager (DCM) oversees all distribution center operations, including KPIs, goals, and objectives. The DCM leads and develops a professional team to meet evolving operational demands, ensures the overall performance of the DCs, and enforces health, safety, and C-TPAT policies. Collaboration with other departments is essential to meet customer needs. The role includes managing an operating budget, which varies depending on the size of the DCs managed.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage distribution center operations, ensuring safety, service, quality, and C-TPAT standards are met.
  2. Execute workbench software to ensure on-time delivery of outbound shipments and stock transfers within an SAP-EWM environment.
  3. Utilize SAP tools such as Handling Unit management, Wave, and RF capabilities to optimize productivity.
  4. Develop, promote, and manage health & safety initiatives, and oversee HR functions for DC staff.
  5. Develop and train team members to ensure effective customer service and team cohesion.
  6. Ensure all staff are trained according to internal standards and legal requirements, including regular safety and employee meetings.
  7. Implement actions to meet KPIs, goals, and objectives, and track related metrics and reports.
  8. Apply continuous improvement principles, including Lean, Problem Solving, 5S, and Gemba Walks, to enhance operations and customer service.
  9. Handle customer complaints and corrective actions collaboratively with Customer Service and Sales.
  10. Maintain inventory accuracy through RF technology and cycle counts, including annual physical inventories.
  11. Assist in developing and monitoring the annual operating budget.
  12. Coordinate repairs and purchases with Purchasing and Maintenance Managers.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Community College or University degree in Operations, Logistics Management, Customer Service & Sales, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with SAP EWM is mandatory.
  • Certifications such as WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, First Aid are assets.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills, capable of training and developing junior staff.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience working with RF technology.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
