Job summary

The Tomlinson Group of Companies is seeking a Dispatcher/Clerk to manage truck routing and logistics for construction sites in the Greater Ottawa Area. The role requires collaboration with operations staff and accounting to ensure accurate rental bookings and timely payments.

Responsibilities include coordinating with dispatchers, updating haul rates, and supporting field personnel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP is valued; bilingualism is an asset.

• Assist with finances related to logistics, SAP and related systems.
• Assist vendors with revenue issues.
• Answer field staff questions.

Dispatcher/Clerk

Material Supply and Logistics Dispatcher places trucks on construction jobs and other sites within the Greater Ottawa Area. The incumbent will be working in a fast-paced environment requiring the ability to be self-motivated, resilient and able to work with minimal supervision.

Location: 3150 Rideau Road

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Routing of Tomlinson-owned trucks on various sites


• Collaborate with operations managers, superintendents, foremen and others to ensure resources are distributed accordingly; attend daily meeting


• Coordinates with other Dispatchers and sales team on trucking operations and needs


• Helps with haul rates when required


• Reviews and approves rental ticket bookings


• Handles any disputes pertaining to rental tickets


• Assist accounting with external truck hiring packages, billing third party vendors and ensure proper payments have been made


• Inquiring and assisting with annual trucking rental rates


• Assist with finances related to logistics, Fiori and SAP


• Assist vendor with revenue issues


• Helps with questions from field staff

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be comfortable working in a digital environment


• Must be open minded and a forward thinker; adapt to curve balls and changes


• Strong Organizational Skills with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks while maintaining composure under pressure


• Demonstrate problem solving, trouble shooting and negotiating skills


• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and co-workers


• Ability to work flexible schedule, long hours and be on call every second weekend


• Work collaboratively as a team player and have the ability to work independently


• Some travel to job sites may be required


• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong technology skills is a must, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and SAP


• Familiarity of the transportation and logistics industries including dispatching equipment, crews, labour and materials considered an asset


• Construction experience or proven knowledge considered an asset; Understanding of weights and measurements


• Bilingual in French considered an asset

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The expected range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
