Job summary

Suncor is hiring a Health and Wellness Advisor to join the integrated disability management (IDM) team in our Calgary office. You will support employees and manage short-term disability (STD) claims in a timely and efficient manner.

You will adjudicate STD claims, assess fitness to work, and coordinate appropriate medical interventions to aid recovery, including developing transitional return-to-work plans with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of claims and/or disability management experience, specifically STD.
• Bachelor’s degree in the medical or human sciences fields, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the medical or insurance fields.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in disability management and the relevant legislation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Cority software is considered an asset.
• Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Adjudicate manage employee STD claims in accordance with legislative requirements and Suncor’s case management process and practices.
• Assess employee fitness to work and communicate restrictions and limitations to the business area.
• Identify and arrange suitable medical interventions to assist employees in their recovery.
• Collect information and collaborate with stakeholders to develop an appropriate transitional return to work plan to facilitate safe, timely, and sustainable return to work.
• Educate and inform key stakeholders on the requirements of short-term and long-term disability programs, including roles, responsibilities, expectations, and consequences.
• Exercise ethical and professional judgment in determining the appropriate collection, use, and disclosure of personal health information.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate electronic documentation and internal records.
