Network Rail Consulting (NRC) is the international consultancy brand of Network Rail International Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail. Network Rail owns and operates Britain’s rail infrastructure - one of the world’s most heavily used rail networks in the most liberalised rail market.

NRC has been working in Canada since 2017 and we have so far successfully supported key infrastructure projects in Toronto and have ambitious growth plans for the future.

Our work is driven forward by our values: passion, agility, collaboration, impartiality.

About the role

We are looking for a skilled rail and transit professional to join us as a Director of Projects and Commercial to lead on major infrastructure projects on a full time basis in Toronto.

This multifaceted role is a leadership position where you will build relationships at a senior level, share your technical knowledge with others, and be accountable for the overall success of the client assignments.

What we offer

We offer a great benefits package which includes an industry-benchmarked salary, life insurance, an employee recognition scheme and an annual leave entitlement of 25 days each year. We offer flexible working hours such as part-time, job-shares and compressed work weeks.

About you

- Significant rail / transit project and programme management experience with a consistent track record in delivering large rail infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience leading large complex multi-billion C$ rail projects.

- Expert knowledge of procurement structures, principles, methodologies, and practices, including progressive contracts and Alliance models, P3 or Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) procurement methodologies.

- Experience in providing strategic leadership and oversight of commercial decision-making for clients.

- A previous track record in leading a team to manage commercial issues within complex engineering and transit projects to ensure successful project completion.

- A strong understanding of project lifecycle and project management concepts.

- An ability to lead, coach, mentor and empower an experienced consultancy team.

- Previous experience in working on large multi-year rail infrastructure contracts with preference for experience within the owner and consultant industry.

- Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of business development, delivering tasks to budget, tenders, bid pricing and contract negotiation.

- A confident networker who can build relationships with internal and external entities.

- An intimate understanding of the Canadian and local Toronto rail market.
