Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing in developing and implementing the hotel’s overall sales and marketing strategy to meet revenue and room night sales goals. Responsible for setting revenue, sales, and marketing strategies, creating tactical plans, and monitoring results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage daily activities of the sales team, including planning, organizing, assigning work, and communicating strategies and goals. Advise staff on policies and procedures.
- Recommend or initiate staffing actions such as salary adjustments or disciplinary measures in accordance with company policies. Alert management to serious issues.
- Create, train, and motivate the sales team responsible for developing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and maximize profits while ensuring guest satisfaction. Develop relationships with key clients to generate group and convention business, including room sales, food & beverage sales, and catering/banquet services.
- Achieve budgeted revenues and maximize profitability across all responsibilities. Drive the preparation of the annual departmental budget, marketing plan, business plan, and financial plans supporting hotel objectives. Produce monthly sales reports, forecasts, and other required documentation.
- Develop tactical sales plans and special programs to increase occupancy, average rates, off-peak business, banquet and catering sales, and enhance the hotel’s local reputation. Monitor sales activities to ensure revenue targets are met or exceeded.
- Identify operational issues affecting marketing effectiveness and collaborate with departments to resolve them.
- Analyze market and sales trends, coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share through added business volume and higher rates. Create special events and sales blitzes to showcase the hotel.
- Oversee business and sales activities, coordinating with other hotel departments to ensure service delivery aligns with client agreements.
- Work with local city contacts to promote high-profile exposure of the hotel. Maintain relationships with community and business contacts, attend conventions, and participate in trade shows to generate business.
- Promote teamwork and service quality through daily communication with departments, including the hotel’s executive team and regional sales groups.
- Engage with outside contacts such as guests, airlines, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, and media to ensure satisfaction and generate repeat and new business.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and serve as “manager on duty” as needed.
