The opportunity

The Director of Finance for Canada oversees all finance activities across various business lines (Assurance, Consulting, EYP, Tax) and functions (Controlling, Markets Finance). Reporting to the CFO, this role supports the Executive Committee, Service Line Managing Partners, and other senior leaders. The individual understands the firm's strategy and delivers finance solutions and services, collaborating across service lines and functions to support strategic execution. They also work with Global Finance leaders to provide insights, support, reporting, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enable financial processes to deliver accurate metrics supporting strategic plans, including new services and assets.
  • Review and analyze financial metrics like revenue, margin, utilization, expenses, and exposure, providing insights and improvement recommendations, aligned with month, quarter, and year-end processes.
  • Prepare, review, and consolidate budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide strategic financial input for decision-making, including results versus budgets, historical data, and future estimates.
  • Support leadership in managing engagement economics, billing, collection, and revenue days.
  • Maintain internal controls over financial reporting and measurement.
  • Support the Canadian CFO by driving best practices and solutions across Canada.
  • Lead and participate in firm-wide finance initiatives.
  • Demonstrate leadership in delivering strategic finance and operational projects across service lines.
  • Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals in Canada.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills are essential.
  • Collaborate with national functions to support the CFO, Executive Committee, and leadership.
  • Assess drivers of financial results in a dynamic market, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Advise on financial performance versus plans using trend analysis and scenario modeling.
Leadership and coaching
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders in Canada and globally.
  • Proven success in leading change initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and develop a team of finance professionals.
Client service
  • Embed trusted advisor practices within the finance team.
  • Focus on analysis, advice, and solutions to improve financial performance, leveraging emerging technologies like AI.
  • Collaborate to enhance client service and share best practices.
Analysis, modeling & advice
  • Communicate financial performance clearly and concisely.
  • Analyze trends to support decision-making.
  • Apply sound financial practices and seek operational excellence.
Qualifications
  • CPA or equivalent certification is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of EY services and market landscape is beneficial; EY experience preferred.
