Job summary

The Town of Tecumseh is seeking a Director Development Services to oversee planning, building, land use and transit functions. Reporting to the CAO, the director provides strategic leadership, directs budget, and guides Council on planning and development initiatives.

The role requires senior management experience, professional planner designation, and a strong track record in urban/rural development, policy, and stakeholder engagement. Based at Town Hall with equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in planning or equivalent (Urban Geography ok); graduate degree preferred.
• Full membership in CIP and OPPI with RPP designation.
• Minimum ten years as accredited land use planner in urban/rural settings.
• Experience with Municipal Act, Planning Act, Building Code Act, Development Charges Act, PPS.
• Seven years of progressive management in public sector planning/building services.

Responsibilities

• Lead Development Services Department operations and objectives.
• Oversee processing of development applications and building permits.
• Provide guidance to Council on planning, economic development and transit.
• Develop and monitor the annual departmental budget and fiscal planning.
• Collaborate across departments to align town policies with strategic plans.
