Job summary

Design Strategists in Toronto is seeking a Design Director to lead design strategy and execution for a suite of investment products. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to shape how Canadians invest.

You will own end-to-end design, from strategy and product design to user research and design systems, and mentor a 8–10 person team while driving AI adoption and scalable design standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of design leadership with 5+ years in a director role.
• Deep knowledge of investing and wealth management industry.
• Active investor with self-directed portfolio.
• Vision for AI adoption in design, and comfort experimenting with new tools.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, leadership outcomes, and measurable impact.
• Exceptional communicator who can influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design vision across the team by collaborating with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, and Marketing to translate insights into business outcomes
• Mentor and scale a team of 8–10 designers across UX, UI, research, and content design, overseeing design for web, mobile, and emerging platforms
• Champion rigorous user research and testing to inform product decisions
• Lead AI adoption in design, executing a strategy for leveraging AI tools to enhance ideation, streamline workflows, and improve design efficiency across the team
• Create scalable, maintainable design systems and standards that accelerate delivery
• Oversee design for web, mobile, and emerging platforms

You'll champion a design culture that drives innovation, elevates user experience, and differentiates in a competitive market. You'll own the end-to-end design function, from strategy and product design to user research and design systems.

What you'll do

• Lead the design vision across the team by collaborating with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering, and Marketing to translate insights into business outcomes

• A clear vision for AI adoption in design, and comfort experimenting with and scaling new tools across design, prototyping, research, and ideation
• A strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, leadership outcomes, integrated user research, and measurable impact
• An exceptional communicator who can influence senior stakeholders
