Creative Niche in Toronto is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead a mature design organization within a leading digital investing platform. You will drive a strong product design vision, grow a multidisciplinary team and influence how millions of investment decisions are supported through thoughtful digital experiences.

This senior role requires 10+ years in product/design with proven leadership, a deep understanding of investing behavior, and a track record of shipping at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in product/design, with leadership at director level or equivalent.
• Track record of leading multidisciplinary design teams.
• Experience designing and launching sophisticated digital products at scale.
• Strong product thinking with customer experience tied to business outcomes.
• Familiarity with modern product design practices including research, design systems and accessibility.
• Experience collaborating with senior Product, Engineering and business stakeholders.

We’re looking for a Director of Product Design to lead an established design team within a leading digital investing platform.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who can set a strong product design vision, grow and inspire a multidisciplinary team, and influence how millions of investment decisions are supported through thoughtful digital experiences.

We’re looking for a design leader who understands the behaviours, expectations and needs of self-directed investors because you have genuine experience with the space yourself.

The opportunity

You’ll lead a team of designers working across a sophisticated investing ecosystem, with responsibility for raising the quality and impact of design across the organization.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

• Set the direction for product design across complex investing experiences
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team spanning product design, research and content
• Create experiences across web and mobile that work equally well for newer investors and more sophisticated, active users
• Build a strong customer perspective into product strategy and decision-making
• Work alongside Product, Engineering and business leaders to shape priorities and influence the roadmap
• Continue evolving design systems, standards and practices that help a large team deliver consistently at scale
• Raise the overall bar for craft, usability, accessibility and customer experience
• Help the design organization become smarter and more effective in how it uses AI

AI will be part of the conversation

Part of this role will be helping the design team determine where AI can genuinely improve the way they work—from research and ideation through prototyping and execution—and how those practices can be adopted more broadly across the team.

We’re looking for someone who is already comfortable with emerging AI tools and can bring experience, curiosity and a thoughtful point of view on how AI should fit into a modern design organization.

What we're looking for

You’re an experienced design leader who can move comfortably between big-picture product strategy, people leadership and the realities of getting great work into market.

You bring:

• 10+ years of experience in product/design, with significant experience leading at the Director level or equivalent
• A track record of leading and developing high-performing, multidisciplinary design teams
• Experience designing and launching sophisticated digital products at scale
• Strong product thinking and the ability to connect customer experience to business outcomes
• Deep familiarity with modern product design practices, including research, design systems and accessibility
• Experience working closely with senior Product, Engineering and business stakeholders
• The communication and leadership skills to challenge thinking, build alignment and move an organization forward
• Experience using or introducing AI within design, research, prototyping or related workflows

Investing knowledge is important

You should have a strong understanding of investing and wealth management, including how investors behave, how markets influence their decisions and what makes a great self-directed investing experience.

Ideally, you're also an active self-directed investor yourself. You understand the products because you use them, follow the markets and have a genuine interest in the space.
