Job summary

Extendicare seeks a Director, Construction to lead its multi-site Long-Term Care redevelopment program in Ontario, overseeing a team of Project Managers and coordinating with Construction Managers, authorities, consultants and contractors. This leadership role requires hands-on governance, budget oversight, risk management and on-site presence.

The position is based at our Markham head office with a hybrid working environment and regular travel across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, architecture, construction management, project management or related field.
• 12+ years of progressive construction project delivery experience with 5+ years in senior leadership on large-scale healthcare or LTC projects.
• Experience delivering projects valued at $100M+.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-project LTC redevelopment program from pre-construction through occupancy and closeout.
• Set delivery strategy, standards, and governance frameworks across the program.
• Establish program controls, KPIs, and intervene proactively when risks drift off track.
• Lead a team of Project Managers for individual redevelopment projects.
• Review and approve execution plans, schedules, budgets, and change management processes.
• Travel regularly to project sites and attend on-site as a core expectation.
