Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Director, Construction to lead its multi-site long-term care redevelopment program across Canada. You will set strategy, governance, and oversee a team of project managers, coordinating with construction managers, authorities, consultants and partners.

You will stay hands-on, review budgets, manage risk, ensure schedule adherence, and drive value engineering across projects while traveling to sites as required. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive construction project delivery experience with 5+ years in senior leadership on large healthcare or LTC projects.
• Experience overseeing multiple redevelopment projects and teams of PMs/GCs across sites.
• Familiarity with Ontario healthcare and LTC redevelopment landscape is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-project LTC redevelopment program from pre-construction through occupancy and closeout.
• Set delivery strategy, standards, and governance frameworks across the program.
• Establish program controls and KPIs; intervene when schedule, budget, or risk drift.
• Lead a team of Project Managers for individual redevelopment projects.
• Review and approve execution plans, schedules, budgets, and change management.
• Run regular project reviews and drive corrective actions for performance issues.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, LTC standards, health and safety regulations.
• Travel regularly to project sites; on-site attendance is a core expectation.
