Permanent, Full-TimeReporting to the Vice President of People & Corporate Services, the Director, Laboratory Services has operational accountability for overseeing, developing and maintaining quality laboratory services across all sites of the corporation. The Director provides leadership to coach, mentor and inspire a diverse team of lab professionals working in collaboration with our clinical programs. The Director promotes growth and development of staff, teamwork, innovation and best practice across all disciplines and modalities of the lab. The Director establishes an effective and progressive working relationship with the Medical Laboratory Director and works within a dyad to determine key priorities, goals and objectives, operational and capital budget needs. The Director leads timely and effective communication within the team and oversees the establishment of policies and processes to ensure high quality patient care systems and quality assurance are in place for all Laboratory services.
Qualifications:- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science Degree or other relevant degree.
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
- CSMLS Certification
- Minimum 5 year management and project management experience in a hospital setting
- Demonstrated commitment to the development of professional practice, mentorship and life-long learning
- Change management and communication skills to effectively implement change.
- Leadership skills to promote effective interpersonal working relationships, coach mentor and develop staff.
- Knowledge of Institute for Quality Management in Healthcare standards (IQMH), Accreditation
- Working knowledge and comprehensive understanding of Labour Relations in a unionized environment and hospital operations required
- Strong participatory leadership and team building skills and highly developed organizational skills
- Excellent abilities in both oral and written communication skills
- Highly developed critical thinking skills with the ability to conceptualize and analyze problems
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making, planning, evaluation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and effectively work with diversity in an interdisciplinary team environmentOverall commitment to the quality of patient care as well as customer service
- Available for regular assignment of Hospital Administrator on-call responsibilities (assigned on a rotating basis to cover evenings and weekends)
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
