Thermal Lab Lead

We are seeking professionals specialized in thermal vacuum testing to lead a thermal testing facility. This position requires excellent technical knowledge of thermal testing and good communication skills to facilitate collaboration with test clients and thus ensure efficiency and compliance with testing procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the thermal vacuum test facility, including equipment maintenance, calibration, process development, test preparation and execution, and safety protocols
  • Liaise between relevant test stakeholders to ensure that the units under test, relevant test systems and equipment, and test instrumentation are efficiently integrated for test execution
  • Ensure tests are conducted safely for personnel, test equipment and test articles, including ensuring checklists and defined processes are followed and completed
  • Execute tests and/or provide guidance to thermal analysts/test engineer for proper test execution
  • Ensure the TVAC/thermal chambers and related test equipment are operating and maintained properly
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues or inefficiencies during testing
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of test procedures, results, and facility operations
  • Document and report lessons learned
  • Recommend and implement process improvements and test capability improvements in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Support and initiate issue identification and resolution using established processes and systems
  • Ensure software maintenance and functionality of the test chamber control systems and data acquisition systems
  • Maintain and support use of GSE structures needed for test setups

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in thermal testing or thermal analysis with proven experience in testing of space hardware
  • Experience with Labview software programming and integration with NI FieldPoint control hardware
  • Proficiency in interpreting test results and analyzing data
  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Good communication skills

The compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 - $181,500.00 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
