Job summary

Intact Financial Corporation in Montreal seeks a Director, Complex accounting and special projects to lead Group Accounting Policies, IFRS interpretation, and complex transactions. The role provides trusted advisory support to senior finance leaders and partners across the organization.

The successful candidate will drive policy development, ensure robust IFRS governance, and coordinate with external auditors to deliver compliant financial reporting in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Qualifications

• Professional designation required (CPA or equivalent).
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in large, complex or multinational environments with leadership experience.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and application to complex transactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Group Accounting Policy function and provide senior guidance on complex accounting matters.
• Advise on major strategic initiatives including acquisitions and purchase price allocation.
• Own and enhance group accounting policies and IFRS disclosures.
• Monitor IFRS changes and ensure timely implementation.
• Drive adoption of new standards with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Prepare technical accounting position papers for complex transactions.
• Oversee annual impairment testing for goodwill and intangibles.
• Collaborate with External Reporting to develop financial statement disclosures.
• Serve as primary contact with external auditors for technical matters.
• Build and lead a high-performing technical accounting team.
