Job summary

RailWorks is seeking a Directional Drill Operator in Canada to support field construction projects. Reporting to the Foreman or Supervisor, you will operate directional drill equipment and related machinery, ensuring safety and efficiency on site.

You will conduct pre-trip inspections, read drawings, and collaborate with the team while meeting client requirements. The role requires AZ license, drilling experience, and the ability to work flexible shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • AZ license and clean driving abstract required.
  • 3+ years directional drilling experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of underground utilities and locates.
  • Ability to read construction drawings.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Experience with Ditch Witch JD10 horizontal bore machines preferred.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-trip safety inspections and complete safety paperwork.
  • Operate equipment functions independently and safely.
  • Adhere to policies, regulations and site rules.
  • Adhere to site-specific rules and regulations.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain communication between team and clients.
  • Load and unload equipment securely.
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepare drill fluid based on site conditions.
  • Operate directional drilling with bore heads and back reamers.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and relay to service technician.
  • Operate drill or locator as required.
  • All other duties to meet company objectives.
