Job summary

Karis Disability Services is hiring Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. You will support daily living activities, promote independence, and advocate for each person’s rights.

Position includes morning/evening shifts on a rotation, every other weekend, and occasional night awake shifts. Benefits include tuition reimbursement, and career development opportunities. Location: Ottawa area.

Qualifications

• Experience working with people who have developmental disabilities is preferred.
• 3-6 months of prior work experience is preferred.
• Post-secondary education in a related field or relevant certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist people with developmental disabilities in their daily living activities at home and in the community.
• Help individuals exercise their rights, learn new skills, and pursue growth and independence.
• Work morning and evening shifts on a rotation schedule, including every other weekend and occasional night awake shifts.

Job description

This posting states that you will work as a Direct Support Professional on a permanent Full-time (40 hour) basis. You will need to work morning and evening shift work rotation and every other weekend with occasional Night awake shifts.

The pay range is $24.20-$28.31 per hour.

Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees work with people who experience developmental disabilities as they live in their homes and communities. This position assists people in their daily life, working with them and their connections to ensure that they can live fully in the community. Direct Support Professionals recognize people's rights to direct their life, understanding that each person has unique gifts and needs, and they support people to learn skills for their own growth and development.
