French for the Future empowers and connects youth ages 12-18 across Canada through inspiring events and transformative experiences that fuel self-confidence, leadership, and a passion for French and Francophone cultures. French for the Future envisions a Canada where young people appreciate their francophonie and Francophone cultures, express themselves confidently in French, cultivate a sense of belonging, and contribute to the rapprochement and development of diverse linguistic communities.
Based in Ottawa, French for the Future has a network of regional coordinators that extends across the country. The Ottawa National Office has a small, but very efficient team of 6 to 8 people.

The Digital Project Leader will work in concert with French for the Future’s team and the Executive Director, who will be responsible for their supervision.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of theFr+ platform,its animation and moderation, its promotion and the production of several reports.
Fr+ is a free platform open to 14–17-year-olds, enabling them to join online communities based on their interests. They can create, discuss and discover content exclusively in French, adapted to their level.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the current state of Fr+, taking into account pre-existing documentation, previous development phases, measurable data and surveys of its target audience.
- Conduct a user experience (UX) analysis of Fr+.
- Use the problem framing method to understand, define and prioritize barriers to using Fr+.
- Identify specific needs of young users to guide necessary improvements.
- Develop recommendations to overcome identified barriers.
- Collaborate with our digital transformation firm to develop effective solutions and manage their implementation.
- Plan Fr+ evolutions and their deployment.
- Test new functionalities before going live.
- Ensure quality control at all stages of approval and production.
- Analyze the impact of proposed solutions.
Fr+ animation and moderation
- Foster an active and engaged online community.
- Be responsible for moderation on Fr+.
- Research, select and share French-language cultural content of interest to 14–17-year-olds on Fr+.
- Recruit and mentor volunteers to participate in content sharing.
- Develop partnerships for content sharing within Fr+.
- Liaise with our digital transformation firm for Fr+ updates, maintenance and bug fixes.
Promotion of Fr+
- In collaboration with the French for the Future marketing and communications team, develop and implement a strategy to promote Fr+ to its audience.
- Develop a strategy dedicated to the creation and sharing of content by and for young people on Fr+.
- Highlight new features and enhancements to the platform.
- Promote Fr+ to community organizations and other stakeholders, and develop partnerships to promote it.
- Represent French for the Future and Fr+ at public events, such as conferences, partner meetings, etc.
Reports
- Produce various reports related to Fr+ (quarterly reports, annual report, progress report and final report for funders).
Other
- Perform other administrative tasks as required.
- Support the implementation of other French for the Future programs as required.
- Excellent ability to take charge and manage a project, taking ownership of it to make it a success.
- Excellent ability to coordinate the various parties involved in a project.
- Passion for big ideas, creative products and a strong desire to innovate.
- Tech-savvy, and curiosity to learn more.
- Passionate about online communities.
- Enjoys working with and connecting with young people.
- Has a good idea of what interests and excites young people aged 14 to 18.
- Knowledge of the Canadian francophonie, particularly outside Quebec, and of the community around French as an additional language.
Required skills
- Good written and oral skills in French and English.
- University degree or post-secondary certificate/diploma or college diploma in a relevant field (project management, etc.).
- Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrates initiative, professionalism and strong work ethic.
- Autonomous, flexible, solution-oriented and able to make decisions.
- Occasionally available to work some weekends (when traveling for events and conferences, within Canada, about 3-4 times a year).
Other criteria
- Candidates should be able to work legally in Canada.
Terms of employment
- 1-year, full-time contract, renewable according to funding, with a three-month probation period.
- Hybrid work environment, with two days a week in the office as part of a team.
- Excellent health insurance 100% paid by the organization starting at the end of the probationary period.
- 2 weeks’ vacation per year + annual office closure for 2 weeks during the holiday season.
