STW welcomes volunteers seeking skill-based volunteering opportunities for the position of Research & Engineering Project Leader: Chemical Engineering. Write to us at newvolunteers@savethewater.org if you have experience in Chemical Engineering.

This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity, and as a Project Leader, you are required to contribute a minimum of 8 hours per week.

Project leaders must be willing to attend meetings in EST Timezone and respond to emails within 36 hours.

STW will provide a "letter of recommendation" to interns, students, and professionals who demonstrate outstanding performance, which can be used for school/university credit and professional references.

Save the Water (STW) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to water research, identifying and removing harmful contaminants, and raising public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. We also offer educational programs to inspire interest in water science.

Our volunteers come from diverse professional backgrounds worldwide, bringing their knowledge and experience to STW. We foster an open and empowering work environment aimed at finding long-term solutions to water contamination. Our vision is “Contamination free, healthy water for all.”

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the operation of drinking units to create prototypes and secure funding.
  • Maintain quality, safety, and control standards.
  • Lead a team to accomplish project goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare technical reports and conduct statistical data analysis.
  • Develop proposals for drinking unit prototypes.
  • Research funding opportunities for drinking units.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders related to prototype design.
  • Maintain operational and licensing records.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, standard operating procedures, and testing methods.
  • Attend scheduled weekly and monthly meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related sciences, or equivalent work experience (minimum 3 years of full-time paid experience).
  • Experience in securing project funding.
  • Strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
