The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is looking for a savvy Digital Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team and steer our digital strategy while leading a dynamic team of a Marketing Advisor and a Business Systems Analyst. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Marketing & Community Engagement, you’ll bring sharp leadership, deep digital know-how, and a passion for performance. From campaign execution to analytics, branding to user experience, you’ll be the driving force behind online engagement, conversions, and growth across all our digital platforms.

What you will do:

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and refine digital strategies to align with organizational objectives and target audiences.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and user experienceacross digital platforms.
  • Manage and mentor members of the digital team (Marketing Advisor and Business Systems Analyst), setting clear objectives, nurturing professional growth, and fostering a positive, results-driven culture.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coach team members, and align individual growth plans with broader organizational goals.

Digital Asset & Platform Management

  • Oversee project management of digital platforms, including websites, mobile applications, and e-commerce systems.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, the Business Systems & Intelligence Analyst, and vendors to ensure successful implementation and maintenance of digital platforms.
  • Scope, plan, and project manage the implementation of a new platform/technology to meet organization-wide needs, ensuring alignment with user journeys, conversion goals, and seamless integration across digital assets. This includes coordinating cross-functional requirements, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing the platform's successful rollout.

Marketing Campaigns & Optimization

  • Plan and execute integrated digital marketing campaigns, encompassing SEO, SEM, PPC, email, social media, and display advertising.
  • Analyze campaign performance, using data to identify optimization opportunities and actionable insights.
  • Coordinate efforts with agency partners and internal teams to achieve campaign objectives.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage budgets for digital marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and maximum ROI.
  • Allocate resources effectively to maximize ROI on digital marketing initiatives.
  • Manage budgets for campaigns and digital projects, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Deliver reports and presentations to communicate results, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and agencies.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current on emerging digital trends, technologies, and best practices, integrating innovative solutions into the organization's strategy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the marketing team.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Communications, or related field is required.
  • At least 10 years in digital marketing, with demonstrated experience in website management, e-commerce systems, and project management.
  • Relevant certifications in digital marketing, project management, or analytics are an asset.
  • Strong technical ability in digital marketing
  • Ability to lead others towards a shared vision
  • Strong written and verbal communication, adaptable to diverse audiences
  • Capable and comfortable using analytical thinking to address problems
  • A strong customer focus for internal and external partners

Working Conditions:

  • Sitting at a desk for long periods of time
  • Using computer for long periods of time
  • Although primarily Monday to Friday, occasional evening and weekend work may be required

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility and all staff working at the zoo must be comfortable working in a large variety of outdoor conditions. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo follows the advice of Environment Canada when responding to temperature and air quality issues.
