Job summary

Extendicare in Winnipeg is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal service for residents and guests. Reporting to the Food Services Supervisor, you will assist with setup, serving, and cleanup, ensuring a courteous and professional dining experience.

You will help with kitchen and dining area cleanliness, participate in special events, and support orientation of new staff. A current Food Handler’s Certificate and ability to lift heavy items are required.

Qualifications

• Has a current Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Preference given to those with prior food service and senior-care experience.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand/walk for most of shift.
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• To serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• To assist in setup and preparation for service of beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• To set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• To assist with cleaning of dishware and keeping dining/kitchen areas clean.
• To assist with catering and participate in special events and theme days.
• To assist in orientation and training of new dietary employees.
• To follow health and safety legislation and safe job procedures.
• To comply with provincial regulations and department policies.
• To attend in-service training and staff meetings as required.
• To participate in Quality Improvement initiatives.
