Responsibilities

1. Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
2. Manage portion control of food items.
3. Follow safety precautions, report unsafe incidents or equipment issues, and ensure a safe environment.
4. Operate equipment safely, document temperature checks, and follow up as needed.
5. Deliver catering to various locations within the hospital, including dish collection for cleaning.
6. Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe time limits for meal service.
7. Assist Cooks with food prep, including salads, vegetables, and simple desserts.
8. Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean cookware as per procedures.
9. Participate in proper storage and labeling of food and supplies.
10. Monitor and document food temperatures and quality, ensuring compliance with HACCP guidelines.
11. Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
12. Set up for catering events, including linens, utensils, and special requests.
13. Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
14. Assist with nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
15. Participate in meetings and training sessions.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act standards.
• Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for extended periods.
• Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Experience in a kitchen or food service environment.
