Responsibilities

  • Serve food to residents according to their diets and preferences.
  • Manage portion control and ensure safety precautions are followed in the assigned area.
  • Report unsafe incidents or equipment issues to management.
  • Operate equipment safely, document temperatures of appliances, and follow proper procedures.
  • Deliver catering throughout the hospital and handle dishware and food prep as instructed.
  • Assist cooks with food preparation and cleaning tasks.
  • Participate in food storage, labeling, and temperature checks following HACCP guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Set up for catering events, including linens, utensils, and special requests.
  • Adhere to safety, quality assurance, and infection control policies.
  • Participate in meetings and training programs as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
  • Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health Department.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy loads and stand for long periods.
  • Current Vulnerable Position / Sector Screening (within 6 months).
  • Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
