Responsibilities

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
• Manage portion control of food items.
• Ensure safety in the assigned area, report unsafe incidents, and follow safety procedures.
• Operate equipment safely, monitor temperatures, and document as required.
• Deliver catering to various hospital locations, including dish collection for cleaning.
• Maintain proper food serving temperatures and observe time limits.
• Assist cooks with food preparation, including salads, vegetables, and basic desserts.
• Clear plates, operate dishwashers, and clean utensils.
• Participate in proper storage and labeling of food and supplies.
• Monitor food temperatures and quality, take corrective actions, and document accordingly.
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
• Set up for catering events and fulfill specific customer requests.
• Adhere to departmental policies on quality, safety, and infection control.
• Assist with nourishment carts and stock kitchenettes.
• Attend meetings and in-service education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program compliant with Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Food Handlers Certification approved by Public Health.
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift moderately to heavily and stand for long periods.
• Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6 months).
• Experience in a kitchen or food service setting.
