Job description

The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, providing catering services, maintaining work areas in a safe and sanitary condition, and helping to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

1. Preparing food for resident service;
2. Ensuring resident satisfaction with meal service;
3. Responding to resident or family concerns and taking appropriate action within decision-making authority, or escalating to the Food Services Manager or Food and Beverage Manager;
4. Setting up, serving, and tearing down at catered events;
5. Communicating effectively and courteously with residents, family members, visitors, and volunteers, projecting a professional image and focusing on customer service excellence.

The ideal candidates will possess:

1. Experience in food services within a retirement residence, long-term care facility, or hospitality environment;
2. Secondary school diploma or equivalent;
3. Food Safe Level 1 Certificate (preferred);
4. Smart Serve Certificate (preferred);
5. First Aid Certificate (preferred);
6. Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English;
7. Empathy and understanding of seniors' needs;
8. Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills;
9. Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
