Under the close supervision of the Dietary Technician/Supervisor, the Diet Clerk receives patient orders via a pre-populated menu, submits orders for preparation, and maintains dietary records, ensuring a positive patient experience. The role involves clerical duties such as record keeping, tallying, copying, and printing.
What You’ll Do
- Process patient food and beverage orders by answering calls, verifying caller identity, and entering orders into the system based on pre-set menus and dietary eligibility.
- Provide alternative menu options when necessary and escalate complex orders to the supervisor.
- Update dietary records for patient transfers and orders, and distribute menus accordingly.
- Handle telephone communications, coordinate with food service, and maintain departmental records and statistical data.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsWhat you bring- Grade 12 or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification.
- Knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, anti-racism, and cultural safety principles, with a commitment to addressing systemic racism and promoting Indigenous cultural safety.
- Understanding of legislative obligations related to Indigenous Peoples and health equity, including relevant provincial and national frameworks.
Core Competencies and Skills- Understanding of systemic and Indigenous-specific racism, with initiatives to promote safety and belonging.
- Knowledge of social determinants of health and commitment to ongoing learning about Indigenous issues and anti-racism.
- Effective communication skills, keyboarding at 45 w.p.m., organizational abilities, and physical capacity to perform duties.
