Qualifications

Job description

Porter Mail Clerk, BCCA (Casual)

Mail Service

Vancouver, BC

The Porter/Mail Clerk, under the supervision of nursing care personnel, transports patients within PHSA hospitals and host hospitals. Assists with patient lifting and transferring, transports materials like equipment, reports, mail, and lab specimens, and maintains transport equipment. Performs mailroom duties as time permits.

What you'll do
  1. Transport patients between hospital units and treatment areas.
  2. Assist staff with patient lifting and transferring.
  3. Change linen on stretchers as needed.
  4. Report issues related to patient transfer to Supervisor.
  5. Notify nursing staff of any changes in patient condition.
  6. Transport equipment, reports, mail, and specimens.
  7. Clean transport equipment and report maintenance needs.
  8. Help maintain inventory of transport equipment.
  9. Answer calls, take messages, respond to service requests during breaks.
  10. Sort and handle mail, operate postal equipment as time permits.
  11. Manage automated mail printing processes and report issues.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent.

Job Details: Casual, hourly wage $29.83 + 13%, location at 600 W 10th Ave, Vancouver, BC. Applications accepted until filled. Shifts vary from 0730 to 1900, Monday to Friday.
