Job summary

Tirecraft in Dorchester, ON is seeking a Diesel Service Technician to maintain and repair our diesel fleet, using diagnostic tools to locate faults and perform repairs to exact specifications.

You will work with Service Advisors, ensure high-quality service, and contribute to customer satisfaction. The position offers an afternoon shift (3:30 pm–12:00 am) with hourly wages based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

  • Diesel Technician with 310T/310J certification.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate drivability diagnostics experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with Service Advisors to obtain work orders and requirements.
  • Inspect motor in operation and use diagnostic tools to identify faults.
  • Repair or replace components in diesel systems (fuel, brakes, steering, engine, exhaust, electrical).
  • Test and adjust units to specifications and performance.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance like oil changes and tune ups.
  • Advise customers on work performed and future repair needs.
  • Inspect engines, transmissions, axles, and brakes to locate faults.
  • Diagnose faults and decide on repair or replacement.
  • Complete repairs using hand and power tools.

Responsibilities
  • Interact with Service Advisors to obtain work orders and customer service specific requirements
  • Inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicle, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices to diagnose and isolate fault
  • Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of diesel systems including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
  • Evaluate and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specification
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service, such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups
  • Advise customers and/or Service Advisor on work performed, general vehicle condition and future repair requirements
  • Inspect and test mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor or determine whether to repair or replace unit
  • Repair or replace mechanical units or components using hand and power tools
  • Test and adjust units to specifications to proper performance
Qualifications
  • Diesel Service Technician 310T or 310J certification
  • Consistently able to work independently
  • Intermediate drivability diagnostics
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Problem Solving Skills to work independently and with a team
