Job summary

City of Thunder Bay is seeking a temporary Administrative Clerk to provide customer service, clerical support, and basic financial processing for Development Services. You will assist with mail, web content, reports, and minutes, while supporting planning and by-law by-products and maintaining records.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and data entry skills, plus experience in payments and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school graduation and related office experience.
  • Two years of proven experience providing high quality customer service.
  • Related payment and cash handling experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical services including mail distribution, web editing, reporting, filing, and meeting minutes.
  • Support digital development applications, housing, and Community Improvement Plan programs.
  • Respond to inquiries and screen by-laws for the public; route files to staff.
  • Prepare and distribute standard letters and notices for planning, building, and realty issues.
  • Maintain City’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law data and records.
  • Process fees, issue receipts, and balance daily receipts; manage cash deposits.
  • Open, maintain, and archive Department files; update records-management systems.
  • Maintain office supplies inventory and print orders; perform other related duties.
