Job summary

ICBC is hiring a Developer to join the Intelligent Automation Solutions team in a hybrid role. You will enhance and maintain AI tools and RPA applications across teams and customers, programming in Python and C++, and leveraging ML frameworks.

You will lead or contribute as needed, mentor others, and tackle production issues while driving automation and efficiency in deployment and operations. This role supports BC’s access to AI solutions.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience in similar roles.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science or related area of study.
  • Expert level experience developing AI & RPA applications and similar solutions.
  • Strong understanding of prompt engineering, NLP and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) to build/train/deploy AI models.
  • Deep experience with tools like Amazon QuickSight and languages such as Java/C#/C++, Python, SQL/Oracle; familiarity with Spring Boot and React.

Responsibilities

The Information Services Division is currently looking for a Developer to join our Intelligent Automation Solutions team. In this position, you will take on the integral role of performing the enhancement and maintenance of the AI tools & RPA Applications our teams, partners and customers.

As a Developer, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert level technical knowledge while owning, managing and supervising complex work for the design, configuration, development, and delivery of software applications in RPA and AI space.
  • Programming (Python, C++), machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and data engineering.
  • Driving Initiatives on Continuous Improvements to completion.
  • Playing the role of an Individual Contributor / Team lead based on requirement.
  • Acting as a lead and facilitator for team members engaged in development activities, coaching more junior developers, owning the technical delivery.
  • Investigating and resolving production problems related to the applications, providing estimates for business cases, impact assessments, projects and responding requests from Business Systems Analysts or Team Leads.
  • Developing automation methods, identifying performance and system capacity requirements, and implementing development tools to gain efficiency with application development and operational support.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant hands-on experience in similar roles.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science or related area of study.
  • Must have expert level-experience in developing and maintaining AI & RPA Applications & Similar solutions.
  • Strong understanding of prompt engineering, UX writing, conversation design and LLM development. Essential skills include designing neural networks, implementing NLP, and using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) to build, train, and deploy AI models.
  • Must have deep level experience in tools like amazon Quick Sight and programming languages like Java/C#/C++, Python, SQL/Oracle, XML and with some of the newer frameworks and libraries, such as Spring Boot and JS React, Podman, Docker Containers data modelling techniques, the GitLab DevOps platforms, JIRA for defect tracking, and established industry practices around web development.
  • Hands on Python skill will be given preference. Application Development with GW Claim Center, Policy Center is an asset.
  • Advanced experience with Dev-Ops, build and release management including CI/CD pipeline, migration methodology and related toolsets (e.g. GitLab) including requirements to plan, implement or oversee releases into production.
  • Advanced experience in Agile methodologies including experience as a Scrum Master.
  • Advanced experience with unit testing, functional testing, automated testing and application debugging techniques.
  • Advanced experience with application architecture including supervising the development of web services including REST API, queues including MQ, sync/async messaging while maintaining the integrity of the solution.
  • Applied knowledge of industry best practices, and experience researching tools and techniques for systems review and design to ensure effective application design.
  • Demonstrated experience performing production support including incident, problem and change management.
  • Experience in guiding and mentoring team members including code reviews and code refactoring.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple concurrent tasks in an environment of changing deadlines, priorities and requirements for your own work and the project team.
  • Ability to provide summation, status reporting and presentations for leadership and stakeholders is required.
  • Ability to drive collaboration among cross team members is required.
  • Data Handling Experience – Strong Pl/Sql Knowledge and Large Dataset Processing and Analysis Experience.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP for scalable deployment, Knowledge on MLOps(Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow) and AI Frameworks Knowledge will be an added advantage.
