Desktop Support Administrator
St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador
Reporting to the IT Manager, we are looking for a dependable and technically skilled Desktop Support Administrator to join our IT team. This role is primarily responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to end users, maintaining desktop systems and applications, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery across the organization.

Responsibilities:
• Serve as the first point of contact for end-user technical issues related to desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
• Install, configure, and maintain desktop operating systems (primarily Windows) and common software applications.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, resolving issues efficiently or escalating when appropriate.
• Provide technical support both remotely and in-person across office environments or satellite locations.
• Support user account administration in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise systems.
• Assist in the setup and deployment of new hardware, including asset tracking.
• Maintain and update IT documentation, asset inventory, and support logs.
• Support basic network troubleshooting (connectivity, VPN, printers).
• Collaborate with the IT team on routine system updates, patching, and backup procedures.
• Travel and work throughout Atlantic Canada as needed.
• Adhere to Strum’s health and safety program and ensure safety procedures and protocols are followed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Diploma, Certificate, or relevant coursework in Information Technology or Computer Science.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Professional, customer-focused attitude and a willingness to learn.
• Willingness to be available for occasional off-hours support or after-hours maintenance as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1–2 years of experience in an IT support or desktop support role.
• Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
• Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 apps, and remote support tools.
• Experience using a ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Intune or other MDM platforms.
• Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and excellent communication skills.
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
