Job summary

Canadian Natural is looking for a Deskside Support Student in Calgary, AB. The role combines hands-on IT support with learning opportunities across incident management, AV support, and enterprise tools. The program runs 12 months with a mix of part-time and full-time schedules.

You will work with Windows 11, Office 365, Citrix, Remedy, and AV equipment, gaining exposure to databases and network basics while developing professional skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in 2nd to 4th year of Information Systems diploma/degree.
• Experience with Windows 11 operating system, file systems, permissions, services, and registry structures.
• Familiar with Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop for remote access.
• Experience with printers, scanners, laptops, and basic hardware.
• Office 365 suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and web-delivered applications.
• Familiar with ticketing systems such as Remedy.
• Knowledge of standalone and client-server application architectures is a plus.
• Basic networking and database concepts (Oracle, SQL) are helpful.

Responsibilities

• Incident & Application Support: diagnose and resolve issues, leveraging strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Customer & IS Team Engagement: emphasize communication, collaboration, and relationship-building.
• In-person and remote interactions are common in this role.
• Project Support: assist IS projects, including testing, documentation, or deployment tasks.
• Meeting Room & Specialized Room Support: provide hands-on AV and conferencing tech support.
• Knowledge Base Contribution: write and update documentation for process improvements.
• Mobile Device Support: troubleshoot Android and iPhone, with MDM considerations.
• Printer Fleet Management: manage drivers, firmware updates, and asset tracking.

Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday) for full-time schedule. Term length: 12 months. Term start: January 2027. Term type: Part-time & Full-time. January – April: Part-time. May – August: Full-time. September – December: Part-time (Part-time being a maximum of 20 hours per week.) What You Bring to the Role:

• Currently enrolled your 2 nd , 3 rd , or 4 th year of an Information Systems diploma/degree
• IT Tools & Technologies experience with the following areas: Hands-on experience with, and an understanding of, the Windows 11 operating systems including: file systems, permissions, services and registry structures
• Remote Access: Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop
• Hardware: Printers, scanners, laptops
• Office 365: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Web and remotely delivered applications
• Ticketing Systems: Remedy or similar
• Additional IT Tools & Technologies considered an asset: Application architectures such as standalone and client-server
• Networks and database systems including Oracle and Microsoft SQL
• Power BI, Visio, Oracle, SQL Developer or TOAD
• Digital certificates for printers
• Windows Server
