Job summary

EllisDon Construction Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Design Manager (Building Group) in Canada to lead design proposals for P3 and design-build projects. You will manage the design team, coordinate disciplines, and drive compliant, winning design solutions while maintaining budgets.

You will mentor a large team, coordinate with estimates, and ensure design pricing adequacy and compliance with project requirements. CSID clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Eight to ten years of Design Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of construction scopes, scheduling, project management, and contract software.
  • Experience in estimating and project management would be seen as an asset.
  • Ability to confidently mentor and delegate to a large team while developing and maintaining strong client relations.
  • Must have, or be eligible for, CSID (PWSGC) Secret Level Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development of design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects.
  • Lead the design team to develop compliant and aggressive design solutions meeting RFP requirements and coordinating all disciplines.
  • Analyze project requirements and guide design teams to meet budgets while developing a strategy focused on winning the opportunity.
  • Develop submissions and presentations for RFP period collaborative meeting process in conjunction with the design team; review and assessment of all RFP documentation and requirements.
  • Develop and coordinate documentation of the proposed design to support estimating the project cost.
  • Develop technical submissions including design and construction narratives and drawing package.
  • Develop project schedules and logistics plans; coordinate and manage consultant contracts and scopes of work.
  • Ongoing development of relationships with partner consultants and trade contractors; ensure design compliance and pricing adequacy against SoR/Project Agreement.
  • Work with the estimating team to ensure adequate design assumptions are managed within project budgets.

You as a Design Manager (Building Group) will:
  • Management of the development of our design proposals for P3 and other design-build projects
  • Management of the design team in developing compliant and aggressive design solutions in response to RFP requirements including coordination of all disciplines

  • You have a construction related degree and eight to ten years of Design Management experience
  • You have a working knowledge of construction scopes and activities, scheduling, project management and contract software
