Job summary

HDR Kingston invites motivated architecture co-op students to contribute to a range of projects across healthcare, education, science and civic sectors. You will work with architects on schematic design, development, and documentation, producing floor plans, elevations, 3D views and renderings while learning contract administration tasks.

The role emphasizes a hands-on learning environment, strong teamwork and a commitment to HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in production of schematic design, design development and contract documents.

The HDR Kingston office is looking for design focused co-op students who are self-motivated learners and are looking to get the most out of their term. We work on a wide variety of Architectural projects of varying scales and scopes. We are a team of 12 designers working with clients in the Healthcare, Post-Secondary Education, Science and Technology, Civic, and Commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

In the role of Design Intern The role of the Co-op student within the office is to work with architects and other team members on a variety of tasks throughout the design and construction process. Depending on student's experience and proficiency, tasks may include assisting in the production of schematic design, design development and contract documents including preparation of floor plans, elevations, details, sections and schedules; producing 3D views and renderings; applying architectural procedures and techniques; independently performing architectural assignments with instruction from senior team members; and working on contract administration duties.

Required Skills
  • Revit 2020 and higher
  • AutoCAD 2020 or higher
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & Powerpoint)
  • Photoshop
  • Knowledge of building technology and assembly, construction methodologies and material applications
  • Ability in multitasking while maintaining high levels of proficiency

  • Enscape (rendering plugin for Revit and Rhino)
