Job summary

HDR is seeking an Associate Health Principal in Canada to lead the health sector in Eastern Canada, developing client bases and driving project delivery across healing environments, research labs, and civic facilities. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead leadership and visioning for HDR Health sector in the local area.
  • Assist Health Principal in reaching net fees booked goals.
  • Contribute to capture plans, qualifications, and proposals for Health clients.
  • Lead interview strategies and implementation.
  • Learn and lead HDR marketing processes (Go-No-Go, Fee Development/Approval, risk data).
  • Serve as Project Manager on projects and manage contracts.
  • Maintain project oversight for quality, financial performance, and schedule.
  • Champion design excellence and patient-centered solutions.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships in the health market.
  • Provide mentorship to health staff and project teams.
  • Develop abstracts and presentations for industry events promoting sector messages.
  • Cultivate a network of industry partners for strategic development.
  • Act as a visible leader in healthcare design through conferences and organizations.

As part of our Architecture practice at HDR, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of spaces and experiences that advance community well-being around the world. From healing environments and learning spaces to research labs and civic landmarks and infrastructure, your work will directly influence how individuals experience the world around them. We bring together architects, planners, designers, and technical experts to solve complex design challenges with creativity, curiosity, and collaboration.

In the role of Associate Health Principal, you will help guide the overall direction of the health sector in the local region and be part of the #1 Healthcare team in the industry. The successful candidate must possess the drive, skillset, and charisma needed to develop a client base and to augment an unrivaled reputation for the core Health Team throughout Eastern Canada.

Responsibilities
  • In coordination with the local Health Principal, contribute to the leadership and visioning for the Health sector in the local area / region.
  • Assist local Health Principal and leadership in reaching net fees booked goals.
  • Contribute to or lead capture plans, qualifications, and proposals for Health clients / pursuits.
  • Contribute to or lead interview strategies and implementation.
  • Learn / lead internal HDR marketing processes, such as Go-No-Go discussions, Fee Development/Approval, risk awareness and data maintenance.
  • Serve as Project Manager (or other roles as appropriate) on projects and prepare / negotiate project contracts.
  • Maintain project oversight throughout execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical/quality, financial performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Champion design excellence throughout projects, fostering innovative, evidence-based, and patient-centred solutions.
  • Build and maintain long‑term client relationships and help expand HDR’s presence in the healthcare market.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to health staff and project teams.
  • In collaboration with Health subject matter experts, and independently when appropriate, develop abstracts and presentations for industry conferences, seminars, workshops, and other similar events promoting sector messages, research, project outcomes, lessons learned, trends, etc.
  • Actively cultivate a network of industry partners for intelligence gathering and strategic development.
  • Act as a visible leader in the healthcare design sector through regular engagement in local and industry relevant conferences, events, and organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A Registered Architect.
  • Must be capable of working with the health team and making client presentations.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills are required.
  • Ability to collaborate and integrate with existing team.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • 7 years related experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years project management experience.
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
