Job summary

Italian Centre Shop Ltd in Alberta invites applications for a deli team member. You will serve customers at the counter, take and fill orders, prepare, portion, and wrap meat, cheese, and olive items, and maintain a clean work area.

We value teamwork, offer training, and provide shift variety including mornings and weekends. High school or GED preferred; prior customer service experience helpful; strong communication and ability to stay calm under pressure encouraged.

Qualifications

• High School or GED preferred
• Minimum of one-year experience in a customer-focused role
• Excellent listening skills and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a professional image at all times
• Work independently with little direct supervision
• Have a well-balanced concern for both task and people
• Have a genuine concern for needs of customers

Responsibilities

• Serving customers at the counter via ticket number system
• Taking and filling customer orders
• Preparing, portioning, and wrapping meat, cheese, and olive items
• Using manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim food
• Preparing sandwiches and deli trays
• Cleaning and sanitizing work area as needed and according to the company cleaning standards
• Providing advice to customers regarding available products
• Answering Deli telephone and taking customer orders
• Promoting products and services that the Italian Centre Shop offers
• Other duties as required
