Job summary

Safeway in Winnipeg is seeking a Deli Sales/Service Clerk to create a welcoming experience by providing friendly service and preparing fresh, quality foods for our customers. From preparing sandwiches, salads and hot foods to stocking showcases and helping customers find what they need, you’ll help keep the deli fresh, organized and ready to serve.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong customer service, team orientation, and flexibility with hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Willing to learn quickly.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service qualities.
• Able to communicate clearly in both spoken and written form.
• Safe and responsible work approach.
• Evening and weekend availability strongly encouraged.
• Must be available to be scheduled on Sundays (Alberta Only).
• Knowledgeable of various cuts of meat is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations.
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner.
• Process cash register payments by cash, cheque, credit card, giftcard and debit.
• Offer samples to customers.
• Hot and cold food preparation, including sandwiches, chickens, salads, soups and specialty trays.
• Use of commercial power equipment, including slicers, fryers and ovens.
• Writing product orders.
• Receiving and rotation of product.
• Filling product showcases.
