Job summary

Italian Centre Shop South LTD in Edmonton, AB is hiring for full-time seasonal Deli and Catering Clerk at our Southside location (5028 104A St NW). Five positions available to start ASAP with contract ending December 31, 2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Minimum 1 year in food service/catering
• Deli slicer experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Assemble a variety of Party Trays (Deli, Fruit, Vegetable) according to recipes
• Prepare, portion, and wrap meat, cheese, and salads
• Wash and cut fruits and vegetables for meal prep
• Use knives, peelers and graters for food tasks
• Weigh and measure ingredients and portions
• Clean and sanitize kitchen per standards
• Respond to telephone orders and assist customers
• Provide strong customer service in Deli/Produce
• Promote Italian Centre Shop products and services
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Other duties as required

Description

Full-Time - Deli and Catering Clerk at our Southside location (5028 104A St NW) Edmonton, AB

We are hiring 5 full-time seasonal positions to start working as soon as possible with the contract ending December 31, 2026. The successful candidates must be available to work shifts throughout the busy holiday season. Out stores are closed on Christmas day, boxing day, and new years day, but we we would require full availability aside from those 3 days between December 14th to January 31st 2025.

How you help the team

• Assembling a variety of Party Trays (Deli, Fruit, and Vegetable) according to company standards and recipes
• Preparing, portioning, and wrapping meat, cheese, and salads
• Wash and cut various foods such as fruits, and vegetables to prepare for assembling
• Using kitchen utensils such as knives, peelers and graters to perform various food tasks
• Weigh and/or measure ingredients and portions
• Clean and sanitize kitchen as needed and according to the company cleaning standards
• Using manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim food
• Answering telephone and taking customer orders
• Working in Deli/Produce Department
• Providing strong customer service when serving customers
• Promoting products and services that the Italian Centre Shop offers
• Follow company'sfood safety, kitchen cleaning and sanitation standards
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School or GED from an accredited school system or program is preferred

Experience

• A minimum of one-year experience in a food service or catering environment
• A minimum of one-year experience using a deli slicer (preferred)

• Excellent listening skills and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining a professional image at all times
• Work independently with little direct supervision
• Have a well-balanced concern for both task and people
• Have a genuine concern for needs of customers

Working conditions

• Position requires employee to work a variety of shifts including mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Position also requires employee to work with challenging customers and/or situations
• Cool temperatures when entering food coolers

Physical requirements

• Long periods of standing and walking.
• Frequent motions include bending, twisting, squatting, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
• Manual and repetitive tasks.
• On occasion, you may be required to lift up to 22.5 kg (50 lbs).
